I spent several years in-house inside the wonderfully chaotic world of consumer media, where content wasn't just something people read. It had to attract audiences, keep them engaged, move them through an ecosystem and ultimately contribute to growth.

I worked across a portfolio of consumer and lifestyle brands, building and optimizing digital marketing programs with email at the center of the audience journey. From acquisition and segmentation to lifecycle strategy, conversion and retention, the work was about understanding what made someone open, click, subscribe, stick around and come back again.

So… what did I actually work on?

Seven brands. Seven audiences. No copy-and-paste strategy.

I worked across seven consumer media brands. Each brand came with its own audience, content, products and opportunities for growth. My job was to understand what made those audiences engage and build marketing strategies around it, connecting editorial content with email, web, SEO, social and digital campaigns to attract new readers, strengthen engagement and support revenue.

I worked closely with editorial and sales teams, managed campaigns and content calendars across channels, and used audience behavior and performance data to continually refine what we were doing.

Email was one of our biggest growth engines.

Email wasn't simply a way to distribute content. It was an opportunity to understand an audience and create a longer relationship with them.

I built and managed email campaigns using segmentation, automation, nurture sequences and A/B testing, continually optimizing everything from subject lines and content to landing pages and conversion pathways.

Technology platforms helped us get smarter about targeting, automation and performance, turning audience data into decisions about what to send, who to send it to and what should happen next.

Creative thinking, meet performance data.

A big part of growth marketing is accepting that a good idea isn't automatically a good result.

We tested, measured and adjusted constantly. Campaign performance helped determine what came next, whether that meant changing a subject line, adjusting segmentation, optimizing a landing page, rethinking content or finding a completely different way to reach an audience.

That combination of strategy, creativity and data helped revitalize digital marketing across the portfolio, strengthen engagement and create more effective, repeatable approaches to audience growth.

The Result

Stronger digital marketing across a multi-brand portfolio, with more intentional targeting, smarter automation and a much clearer connection between content, audience behavior and growth.
